We have two Junior rooms available withint the centre. One room caters for children aged 2-3years while the other is 15months - 3 years. In each room there is a maximum of 10 children with 2 staff members. Currently, these rooms are combining in one room due to numbers. We have a number of vacancies still available in both rooms. These rooms focus on developing children's physical and cognitive development as well as their social, emotional and language development. Children participate in a range of activities each day including; Sandpit, Obstacle Course, Blocks, Puzzles, Art & Craft, Home Corner, Books, Singing and Dancing.
Kindy & Preschool
Our Kindy & Preschool Rooms are aimed at preparing children for school. Our routines are designed to follow a school's normal routine thus making the transtition from childcare to school easier for children. Our Kindy Room caters for children aged 3-6years while Preschool is for children aged 4-6years. Both rooms have a maximum of 22 children with 2 staff. There are vacancies on all days for both these rooms.
The Kindy & Preschool Rooms focus on all areas of development as well as having an educational focus. Children will start learning reading, writing, and memory skills; numeracy, computer and functionl math skills. Children participate in a range of activities including; Gross Motor Activities (Running, Climbing, Obstacle Course, Sandpit, Bikes), Blocks, Puzzles, Art & Craft, Science, Counting, Home Corner, Books, Singing and Dancing. Children also practice their pre-writing skills in their writing corner.
School Age Care
Our Before School Care Program allows parents to drop their child off anytime from 6am. During this program, children participate in activities including; Planned and spontaneous outdoor activities (Obstacle Course, Climbing, Long Jump, Running and Sandpit), Planned and spontanteous indoor activities including but not limited to reading, writing, computers, music & movement, puzzles and other fine motor activities.
Children who attend our After School Care Program receive homework assistance and participate in a range of developmentally appropriate games and activities including art & craft, computers, gross motor skills, puzzles, blocks, and home corner.
During Vacation Care, the children participate in a range of developmentally appropriate activities from holding a mini sports day, cooking day, music and movement day to attending various excursions. On our excursions, children have the opportunity to: · Visit the Farm at Burpengary where they will learn animal care skills. · Visit the day centers owned and operated by Ablecare at various locations including Mitchelton & Burpengary where they will be able to utilize the equipment and resources.
The programs for the children, concentrate on 3 main areas: - Education, Independent Living and Leisure skills. Children participate in and learn the following skills; Reading, Writing,Speech, Communication, Memory Skills, Comprehension, Numeracy and Functional Math and Computer Skills. Cooking, Work Skills, Personal Care, Travel and Safety Skills, Drama, Music, Art & Craft, Games, Dancing, Animal Care, Sensory Therapy and Singing.
